BODY LOVE: a workshop and panel on the intersection of sexuality and movement

  • New Women Space 188 Woodpoint Rd Brooklyn, NY 11211 United States (map)

Join us for a workshop and panel discussion on the intersection of sexuality and movement. We’ll begin with an introduction to kink workshop, led by cyclist, dominatrix, and mental health warrior Kris Rodriguez - if you attended our September event, you’ll remember this badass human from our panel on body inclusive fitness! This workshop is open to everyone - especially folks who are new to kink or have never attended a kink workshop before. Kris’ aim is to get you feeling comfortable and familiar with some concepts and objects so you can go forward and learn more or incorporate them into your own life, if you so choose. Kris will be talking about discovering their own sexuality at a young age, how society makes fat people/femmes feel about sex, and how becoming a prodomme has helped them improve their sex life. We’ll get into the difference between power exchange, impact play, sensual domination, and BDSM, and discuss safety.

After the workshop, we’ll hear from an amazing panel of activists, writers, and wellness professionals on the intersection of movement and sexuality. We’ll be exploring pole and burlesque as fitness and performance art, and talking about how we can develop greater self love from a better understanding of our bodies.

A note from Sarah: "This is a reclamation of boudoir.
Severing it's ties with the male gaze and it's heavy history, we put the control of representation into the hands, hearts and consciousness of womxn, femmes & queer folks.
This is a space where we celebrate what our culture has convinced us are imperfections.
We shout from the rooftops what we were told to speak of in a whisper.
Stretch marks, scars, acne, folds, rolls, trauma, authenticity and truth.
The work we do is soul shaking reclamation at it’s finest.
We wake up magick in eachother.
We take up space.
We get back in our bodies and it feels so damn good."
